Why content management websites are the way to go

For years, websites consisted of web pages that were filled with static content that included text and images that did not require or really allow any user interaction. There are hundreds of thousands of web pages out there that still follow that particular approach. Static content is great for websites that do not expect content to change very often or do not require or expect any user participation. So if not static, what is the alternative? Dynamic content is the answer.

Dynamic content allows the web pages to be populated based on the web page and certain user interactions. Dynamic website content allows viewers of a website to engage in any number of activities which keeps them on the web page and website longer. Today more than ever before, the importance of being able to get people to your website and keep them there is of the highest priority. Being able to have fresh website content that keeps users on the page and coming back should be every webmaster's highest priority.

Webmasters who choose the path of dynamic content need not concern themselves with solely learning technologies such as JavaScript, AJAX or ASP. While it is helpful to learn these technologies and put them into place, there are several content management systems out there that have been developed by Open Source communities that have done much of the legwork for you. Content management systems allow website designers to design interactive, dynamic websites for their customers and give their customers the power to change and maintain their own content. Many consumers today are looking for website designers who will design their website for them but want the ability to go in and make updates without having to request it from the designer.

Some benefits of Content Management Systems:

  • Manage your website directly from your web browser
  • Quickly update your own website content for free, no need to pay for updates
  • Create and manage contact forms
  • Create and manage website polls
  • Create user accountability for updated articles and content
  • See custom modules for tracking your website visitors trends
  • Design is consistent across all of your pages
  • Menu systems are easy to manage and update automatically when changes are made
